Last Friday, an exceptional moment for the clis pupils of Jacques-Brel School in Saint-Brieuc. They presented their creations. The mayor, several elected officials, staff of the municipality and the museum, many parents of students and friends of the school, staff and teachers honoured child labour with their presence.
On the board, chalk in hand…
The internationally renowned painter, Yann Sciberras himself, was at their side. The artist, whose works are exhibited in many galleries from Paris to London, from the United States to Dubai, with great generosity and humility, has exhibited one of his works among the paintings made by the students.
The meeting between the artist and the children was a highlight of the school year. In the early afternoon, the budding artists had the pleasure of creating with the painter an ephemeral chalk work on the blackboard of the classroom.
The opening closed a work that lasted several months, inspired by Yann Sciberras’ highly colourful work. Eleven individual canvases and collective creations on large format canvases had been created by the students, including La guerre et la paix, La météorologie and La baie de Saint-Brieuc. Before the opening, more than 200 students, from kindergarten to fifth grade, visited the exhibition and met the painter.
